Mark Payne

Mark Payne was born in Australia and began painting in his early 20's. He graduated with honours with an Arts degree at Swinburne. He has lived in the UK for many years working as an Art Director for the BBC, and this gave him the opportunity to travel, especially through Eastern Europe where he was exposed to Naive Art and the work of the Romantics.

This opened a door that allowed Mark freedom to paint life with child-like joy, experiencing new dimensions in design, colour and shape.

He exhibited in London and received many private commissions. Since returning to Daylesford in 1994, Mark has been painting his impressions of Europe in conjunction with more localised images from his hometown.
