Helen Lehmann

Helen's art training began in the seventies due to her interest in sculpture, then moved onto life drawing and finally painting in oils, which has been her medium over the past ten years.

Travelling widely through Europe during the eighties furthered her love of classical painting and sculpture, whose interest is clearly shown in her series of work entitled “Divas and Dancers”.

To portray the splendour of opera and dance Helen has used colour, texture and body language to evoke the drama and spectacle of grand opera and ballet. Somber backgrounds and negative space are used to enshrine the prima donna and add richness to these individual works.
